Services

Integration services for the plant floor

MES, SCADA, and the data path between them. Each service below is drawn from systems WitanTech has built and supported in production.

Ignition MES

Track and trace, gate checks, database front-ends, and production reporting in one Ignition Perspective MES.

  • Track and trace from station to finished goods
  • Gate checks and process holds
  • Database front-ends for production data
  • Production reporting for production and quality teams
  • Requirements worked out directly with the people running the line

MES and SCADA ownership for two battery manufacturing sites, including an in-house Ignition Perspective MES delivered with a small team.

SCADA and plant overviews

Operator screens that show station status, AGV positions, and the alarms that actually matter.

  • Real-time station status across the plant
  • Live AGV position and status
  • Pan-and-zoom plant overviews
  • Andon logic that holds a machine when defects repeat
  • Downtime and production status with audible alarms

Delivered Ignition Perspective SCADA for a battery manufacturing gigafactory and a defense industry plant overview covering dozens of AGVs.

PLC and device integration

OPC-UA servers, PLCs, scanners, and edge devices brought onto one data path.

  • OPC-UA server and tag design
  • Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, and Siemens PLCs
  • Modbus and MQTT connections
  • Barcode scanning with Cognex DataMan and Keyence
  • ASRS, gantry, and conveyor tracking logic

Connected OPC-UA servers and Mitsubishi PLCs into plant-wide data collection for new production lines, and extended an MES with ASRS and gantry logic.

SQL, reporting, and data pipelines

The data layer behind the screens: schemas, queries, and reports that people trust.

  • Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • T-SQL and SQL for MES and reporting workloads
  • ETL pipelines and scheduled report jobs
  • Retry handling, journald logging, and acceptance tests
  • Database front-ends built inside Ignition

Built the reporting layer for track and trace and production reporting, plus a daily report pipeline as a systemd timer with a 26-assertion acceptance suite.

Template libraries and standards

Reusable Ignition templates so the next line or site commissions from a proven baseline.

  • Reusable track and trace and gate checking templates
  • Database front-end components
  • One pattern set carried across multiple plants
  • Warehouse material management and picklists
  • A baseline new lines and sites can be commissioned from

Built a reusable Ignition template library for track and trace, gate checking, and database front-ends, and set the Perspective patterns three plants in startup phase built on.

Machine vision and edge inference

Classification at the station, wired back into the MES.

  • Photo-eye triggered imaging at the station
  • TensorFlow classification running on a Raspberry Pi
  • Conveyor stopped on a bad part
  • Operator confirm or override in Ignition Perspective
  • Corrections fed back to retrain the classifier

Built an automated visual inspection system on a live production line, from photo eye to retraining loop.

OT infrastructure and deployment

Containerized services, scheduled jobs, and secured remote access that stays up.

  • Docker and Docker Compose deployments
  • systemd services, timers, and restart policies
  • Linux administration (Ubuntu, WSL2)
  • CI/CD pipelines and journald log analysis
  • Cloudflare Tunnel and Caddy reverse proxy access

WitanTech runs self-hosted services on Linux with systemd units, journald logging, and bearer-token-gated remote access.

Not sure which of these you need?

Most plant work starts as a data problem. Describe the line and we will tell you where we would start.
